About the talk
Following extensive conservation work, two 18th century globes have returned to Ham House. Created in 1740 by the expert map and globe maker John Senex and bought by the 4th Earl of Dysart, the pair includes a terrestrial globe, showing the earth, and one celestial globe, showing the stars. Join Dr Hannah Mawdsley as she shares details of the conservation, including spectacular before and after images. She will also share some surprising discoveries, and explore our understanding and influence of constellations and stars since the 17th century.’

About the speaker
Dr Hannah Mawdsley is Property Curator for the National Trust’s Ham House and Garden, a seventeenth-century Jacobean mansion on the bank of the River Thames near Richmond, London. She regularly contributes as an expert historical consultant for television and radio.
