Garrick’s Temple to Shakespeare
Today, the Temple contains an exhibition about Garrick, featuring a number of reproductions of works by major 18th century artists, including Gainsborough, Reynolds, Hogarth and Zoffany. There is also a full-size reproduction of the original marble statue of Shakespeare by Louis-François Roubiliac that was commissioned by Garrick in 1756 and is now in the British Library. The Temple is surrounded by Garrick’s Lawn, a garden restored to its 18th century layout and design.
