Henrietta Howard and Marble Hill House

Henrietta Howard, Countess of Suffolk (1689-1767), has perhaps been best known as mistress to the Prince of Wales, later George II. However, this talk shows that Howard was much more than a mistress. She became an extraordinary figure in the Georgian court and a member of a dynamic circle of writers, poets and politicians. One of her greatest achievements was the construction of her elegant Palladian villa, Marble Hill, and its gardens. This talk looks at Howard’s role in Marble Hill’s creation and how it fits into her fascinating life story.
